Novak Djokovic and Rohan Bopanna continue to defy all odds as the duo recently became the number-ranked players in their respective categories. While Djokovic recently surpassed Roger Federer to become the oldest World No. 1 in ATP Rankings history, Bopanna was already the number 1 ranked tennis player in the men's doubles category.
On Wednesday, Djokovic heaped praise on Bopanna via a social media post while cherishing the numero uno spot in the ATP rankings.
Djokovic joined Rohan Bopanna as the oldest world number 1 in the singles category, as the Indian continues to reign supreme in men's doubles along with his partner Matthew Ebden.
"Age is just a number. For us, that number is 1," wrote Djokernole in his social media post congratulating Bopanna.
Earlier, the pair had featured together in a video shared by ATP Tour on X. In the clip, Novak praised the Indian legend for his continued dedication even though he spends a lot more time in the gym and with the physios.
"It's not really balanced. It's not 50-50. He brings more years to the 80. But I think we're still going strong," said the Serbian icon in the clip.
"I think that tennis teaches so many wonderful things. And I think experience wins," Rohan Bopanna added, after which Novak Djokovic gave the Indian superstar a major shoutout for his dedication.
"I’d say experience, but also still being devoted and dedicated to the game every single day. I see him in the gym countless hours, also in the physio a bit more than before. But it's amazing to share the Tour with you for so many years and what an incredible moment to be the oldest No. 1 in singles and doubles at the same time," Djokovic stated.
While the 24-time Grand Slam winner further highlighted his desire to play in India one day, he is next in action at the Monte-Carlo Masters with the Serbian set to meet Lorenzo Mussetti in the round of 16 clash.
Elsewhere, Bopanna and Ebden begin their doubles campaign against Mate Pavic and Marcelo Arevalo.
