KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Veer Mahaan has been released by WWE
  • He has hinted at mistreatment by WWE
  • Jinder Mahal and Sanga have also been released by WWE
WWE released as many as five superstars from their contracts on Friday (April 19). The list included three Indian-origin superstars, Jinder Mahal, Veer Mahaan and Sanga. Following his release, Veer dropped a strong hint at Indian superstars being treated unfairly by WWE. The 35-year-old superstar took to X and confirmed his WWE release.
"??? ?? ?? ??????????? ?? ??? ?????? ?? ? ??? ?? ????? ???? ???? (When it comes to the honour and respect of Indians, sacrifice comes first) Good Bye WWE ?? ?? ???????," he wrote on X. Jinder was quick to react to Veer's post and he seemingly supported him.
Veer made his much-awaited return to the main roster on Raw after Wrestlemania 38. WWE aired many advertisements on the road to his WWE return but he was never a regular on TV. He participated in very few matches on TV after his return to Raw. Veer's last televised match was on last month's Raw, where he teamed up with Sanga against The Miz and R-Truth.
In September 2023, Veer teamed up with Jinder and Sanga in a six-man tag team match at the Superstar Spectacle but the Indian superstars lost at their home. WWE was unfair to all the Indian superstars and all of them lost in their home country. Apart from three Indian superstars, WWE has also released Xia Lee and Xyon Quinn.
Jinder Mahal's release a surprise
Jinder Mahal's release is the biggest surprise. This is the second time that he has been let go by the company. Jinder is undoubtedly the second-most famous Indian-origin superstar after The Great Khali. A former WWE Champion, Jinder wasn't getting much TV time of late.
Jinder looked set for a push after his WWE return on Day 1 Raw, where he participated in a segment with The Rock. Just two weeks later, Jinder challenged Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. He was close to a win but missed out on winning the title.
Jinder was off TV for the next three months and only made his return for the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on Smackdown before Wrestlemania 40. WWE did not treat its former WWE Champion properly and he has now been released. "I Quit. Maharaja Out," he wrote on X.
The Modern Day Maharaja is now under a 90-day no-compete clause and will be free to compete for any other company after three months. It will be interesting to see if Jinder joins AEW and compete against Hook.
